The authors give a slight generalisation of the results presented in a previous paper published in [Nonlinear Anal., Theory Methods Appl. 64, No. 4, 696--705 (2006; Zbl 1101.34011)]. The method of upper and lower solutions is used in the standard way in order to obtain existence results for the nonlinear boundary value problem \[ y^{(4)} =f(t,y,y',y'',y'''),\qquad t\in (0,1) \] under nonlinear boundary conditions. The techniques, results and examples follow the general outline of those in the paper mentioned above.
