A Lie algebra \(L\) is said to be prime if \([I,J]\neq0\) for every nonzero ideals \(I,J\) of \(L\). An element in \(L\) is an absolute zero divisor in case \(\text{ad}^2 x=0\). A strongly prime Lie algebra is a prime Lie algebra without nonzero absolute zero divisors. The main result in the paper is the following characterization of strong primeness by elements in Lie algebras over arbitrary rings: A Lie algebra \(L\) is strongly prime if and only if \([x,[y,L]]\neq 0\) for every nonzero elements \(x,y\) in \(L\). Analogous characterizations on strong primeness in Jordan systems were given for characteristic not \(2\) in [\textit{K. I. Beĭdar, A. V. Mikhalev} and \textit{A. M. Slin'ko}, Trans. Mosc. Math. Soc. 1988, 129--137 (1988); translation from Tr. Mosk. Mat. O.-va 50, 130--137 (1987; Zbl 0648.17010)] and [\textit{J. A. Anquela, T. Cortés, O. Loos} and \textit{K. McCrimmon}, J. Pure Appl. Algebra 109, No. 1, 23--36 (1996; Zbl 0967.17021)] in free characteristic. The authors also prove that the strong primeness of a Lie algebra is equivalent to that of its Jordan algebras at Jordan elements.
