This paper is devoted to the existence of special continuous selections. Let \(X\) be paracompact, \(Y,Y_1\) and \(Y_2\) Banach spaces, and \(F_1 :X\to 2^{Y_1}\), \(F_2 :X\to 2^{Y_2}\) two lower semicontinuous and convex-valued multifunctions. Let \(L:Y_1\oplus Y_2\to Y\) be a continuous linear surjection, and \(f:X\to Y\) a continuous selection of the composite mapping \[ L(F_1;F_2)(x)=\{ y\in Y : y=L(y_1;y_2),\; y_1\in F_1(x),\; y_2\in F_2(x)\} . \] The authors prove that for each \(\varepsilon >0\) there exist two continuous \(\varepsilon \)-selections \(f_1\) and \(f_2\) of \(F_1\) and \(F_2\), respectively, such that (1) \(f(x)=L(f_1(x);f_2(x))\), \(x\in X\). The proof is based on the convex-valued Michael selection theorem. Under additional assumptions that \(Y=Y_1=Y_2={\mathbb{R}}\) and \(F_1,F_2\) are closed-valued, they establish the existence of exact continuous selections \(f_1,f_2\) satisfying (1). The paper is concluded with some interesting examples and open questions.
