This paper deals with a version of non-stationary Navier-Stokes equations for incompressible fluids in the whole space, where the usual Laplacian is replaced by the Laplacian in the horizontal variables. Systems of this type appear in particular in geophysical fluids. The authors prove the global wellposedness of the considered problem, when the initial data is taken in a suitable Besov-Sobolev space and its norm is small enough compared to the horizontal viscosity.
