The authors consider a quintic near-Hamiltonian system and study the problem of the number and distribution of its limit cycles. Using the methods of bifurcation theory and qualitative analysis, they prove that such a system can have 20, 22, or 24 limit cycles and give the distributions of limit cycles in each of these cases.
