The authors study some qualitative properties of an epidemic model of the type \[ \frac{dI}{dt} = - \beta - (\delta + \gamma)I + \lambda SI, \;\frac{dS}{dt} = \alpha - \delta S - \lambda SI, \] which is a reduced SIRS model with a constant removal rate of the infective individuals. First, they discuss the qualitative properties of equilibria at infinity. Moreover, they prove the uniqueness of the limit cycle if it exists in the first quadrant. The methods include Poincaré transformations and some results for generalized Liénard equations.
