The authors are known to have contributed in the past many important results in the theory and applications of Nemytskij operators in Sobolev-type spaces. In their abstract, they write: ``This paper is devoted to the study of the superposition operator \(T_f(g):=f\circ g\) in the framework of Lizorkin-Triebel spaces \(F_{p,q}^s(\mathbb R)\) and Besov spaces \(B_{p,q}^s(\mathbb R)\). For the case \(s>1+ (1/p)\), \(1<p<\infty\), \(1\leq q\leq\infty\), it is natural to conjecture the following: The operator \(T_f\) takes \(F_{p,q}^s(\mathbb R)\) to itself if and only if \(f(0)=0\) and 1 belongs locally to \(F_{p,q}^s(\mathbb R)\). We establish this conjecture for the following two cases: (1) \(s-[s]>1/p\), (2) \(s-[s]\leq 1/p<3/4\). For the case \(p\leq 4/3\) and \(s-[s]\leq 1/p\), the conjecture is also proved, but with a restriction on \(s\), namely, \[ \biggl|s-[s]+ \frac12- \frac1p\biggr|> \sqrt{\frac1p- \frac34}. \] A similar result holds for Besov spaces \(B_{p,q}^s(\mathbb R)\), but with some extra restrictions involving \(q\).''
