Solutions of the matrix equation \(AX=B\), where \(A\) is an infinite matrix, are considered. The main results include some new conditions on the solvability of infinite tridiagonal systems, on the finite section method and finally on the construction of a sequence, using a quasi-Newton method, with a fast convergence to a unique solution of an infinite linear system.
