The author presents the explicit construction of a maximal surface in the Lorentz-Minkowski space \(L^3\), and this surface is bounded by a hyperboloid, which is weakly compact in the sense of \textit{M. Umehara} and \textit{K. Yamada} [Hokkaido Math. J. 35, No. 1, 13--40 (2006; Zbl 1109.53016)]. Contents include: An introduction (which contains a lucid survey of previous work, and statement of Theorem 1); Background and notation (the Lorentz-Minkowski 3-space, maximal surfaces, the López-Ros transformation); Proof of Theorem 1; Proof of Lemma 1; and References (eighteen items).
