The authors prove the following Theorem. Let \(\mu\) be a regular (in the sense of Ullman) Borel measure on \([-1,1]\) which satisfies Szegö's condition, \[ \int_I \log \mu'(t)dt>-\infty \eqno(*) \] on an open interval \(I\subset [-1,1]\). Fix \(A>0\). Then, for almost every \(x\in I\), \[ \lim_{n\to \infty} \frac{K_n(x+a/n,x+b/n)}{K_n(x,x)} =\frac{\sin ((a-b)/\sqrt{1-x^2})}{(a-b)/\sqrt{a-x^2}} \] uniformly for \(a,b\in [-A,A]\), where \(K_n(\cdot,\cdot)\) are the reproducing kernels associated with \(\mu\). This theorem generalizes the result of Lubinsky in which instead of \((*)\) positivity and continuity of \(\mu'\) on \(I\) is required. As the consequence, under the same conditions an extension of a zero-spacing result of Levin and Lubinsky is obtained.
