In [Exp. Math. 17, No. 3, 269--282 (2008; Zbl 1157.33305)] the hyperbolic Schwarz map was introduced, defined as a map from the complex projective line to the three-dimensional real hyperbolic space by use of solutions of the hypergeometric differential equation, which can be seen as lifting to 3-space of the Schwarz map. Its image is a flat (vanishing intrinsic Gaussian curvature) front (cf. \textit{J. A. Gálvez} et al. [Math. Ann. 316, No.3, 419--435 (2000; Zbl 1003.53047)] and \textit{M. Kokubu} et al. [Pac. J. Math. 221, No. 2, 303--351 (2005; Zbl 1110.53044)]) and generic singularities are cuspidal edges and swallowtail singularities. The paper under review studies the singularities of the hyperbolic Schwarz map, counts the number of swallowtails, and identifies further singularities, except those which are apparently of so-called type A5 (a higher-order singularity) of the two-parameter family of confluent hypergeometric differential equations with SL-form \[ u''-q(x)u=0, \quad \text{where} \quad q(x) = (x^2+2ax+b)/(4x^2). \] A similar study was undertaken in [\textit{M. Noro} et al., Exp. Math. 17, No. 2, 191--204 (2008; Zbl 1152.33303)] for a 1-parameter family of hypergeometric differential equations.
