Let \(\mathbb{B}^d\) be the unit ball in \(\mathbb{R}^d\), \(W^r_p(\mathbb{B}^d)\) be the usual Sobolev space and \(W^{\circ,r}_p(\mathbb{B}^d)\) the subclass of radial functions. The authors present several results related with approximation by polynomials in \(L_q(\mathbb{B}^d)\). In the main result it is proved that the subspaces \(W^r_p(\mathbb{B}^d)\) and \(W^{\circ,r}_p(\mathbb{B}^d)\) have the same order of best approximation by polynomials in \(L_q(\mathbb{B}^d)\).
