Let \(F\) be the mapping which associates to any point \(x\) on a convex hypersurface \(S\subset{\mathbb R}^{d+1}\) the set \(F_x\) of farthest points from \(x\) (with respect to the intrinsic distance). In this paper the authors study the so-called \textit{antipodal convex hypersurfaces} in \({\mathbb R}^{d+1}\), i.e., convex hypersurfaces for which \(F\) is a single-valued involution (\(F\circ F=\text{id}_S\)). First they construct two different classes of antipodal convex hypersurfaces, namely, a family of centrally symmetric hypersurfaces of revolution and the one obtained by considering the unions of two caps of \(d\)-dimensional semispheres. Next they show that if the mapping \(F\) of the double of a convex body \(K\subset{\mathbb R}^d\) verifies the above properties, then \(K\) has to be a smooth constant width set; they also show a partial converse of this result. In the last part of the paper the authors state several characterizations of the \(d\)-dimensional ball in terms of properties of the mapping \(F\).
