A note on the Drazin inverse of an anti-triangular matrix (Q732082): Difference between revisions

Let \(B(X, Y)\) denote the set of all bounded linear operators between Banach spaces and let \(B(X)=B(X,X)\) as usual. \textit{J. J. Koliha} [Glasg. Math. J. 38, No.~3, 367--381 (1996; Zbl 0897.47002)] introduced the notion of the generalized Drazin inverse of an operator \(T\in B(X)\) as the unique (if exists) element \(T^d \in B(X)\) such that \(TT^d = T^dT\), \(T^dTT^d = T^d\) and \(T-T^2T^d\) is quasi-nilpotent, i.e. its spectrum contains only the point \(0\). The authors find explicit expressions for the generalized Drazin inverse \(M^d\) of an anti-triangular operator matrix \(M=\left[\begin{matrix} A & B \\ C& 0 \end{matrix}\right]\), where \(A\in B(X), B\in B(Y,X), C\in B(X,Y)\), under some conditions. \textit{N. Castro-González} and \textit{E. Dopazo} [Linear Algebra Appl. 400, 253--269 (2005; Zbl 1076.15007)] presented a formula for the Drazin inverse of such an anti-triangular matrix \(M\) under certain conditions which are not equivalent to those given in the present paper.
