Homological dimensions in cotorsion pairs. (Q2267698): Difference between revisions

The authors study relative homological dimensions in cotorsion pairs. As applications, the authors obtain various estimates for (both big and little) finitistic dimension for several classes of algebras. The authors even obtain a criterion for validity of the finitistic dimension conjecture in terms of hereditary complete cotorsion pairs. The main result of the paper is the following theorem: Theorem. Let \(R\) be a unital ring and \((\mathcal{A,B})\) a complete hereditary cotorsion pair in \(\mathrm{Mod\,}R\). Then we have: \[ \mathrm{resdim}_{\mathcal A}(\mathcal P^{<\infty})\leq\mathrm{findim}(R_R)\leq\mathrm{pd}_{\mathcal A}(\mathcal A)+\mathrm{resdim}_{\mathcal A}(\mathcal P^{<\infty}), \] where \(\mathcal P^{<\infty}\) denotes the category of modules of finite projective dimension, \(\mathrm{resdim}_{\mathcal A}\) the resolution dimension with respect to \(\mathcal A\), and \[ \mathrm{pd}_{\mathcal A}(\mathcal A):=\min\{n\geq 0:\mathrm{Ext}_R^j(-,-)|_{\mathcal A}=0\text{ for any }j>n\}. \]
