Tilting categories with applications to stratifying systems. (Q852681)

The present paper studies several special relative homological invariants of algebras. The typical situation is given by a choice of some subcategory \(\mathcal X\) in the category of modules over some Artin algebra \(R\). Then for each \(R\)-module \(M\) one can ask various questions, for example, whether there is a (co)resolution of \(M\) by modules from \(\mathcal X\); what is the shortest length of such (co)resolutions; what is the behavior of the functor \(\text{Ext}_R^i(M;-)\) (or \(\text{Ext}_R^i(-,M)\)), when restricted to \(\mathcal X\), etc. The first part studies these questions (under various restrictions on the category \(\mathcal X\)), their relation to each other, and presents numerous estimates and identities for numerical invariants contained in the questions. In the second part of the paper the authors study in details applications to the special case when the category \(\mathcal X\) is associated to the so-called stratifying system. This allows them to improve some estimates on finitistic dimension and various filtration dimensions for stratified algebras, previously obtained in the literature, in particular, in [\textit{B.
