The authors introduce the notion of \(L\)-dendriform algebras as certain analogues of Loday's dendriform algebras. Such algebras are useful in the study of pseudo-Hessian structures on Lie groups, and for \(S\)-equations in pre-Lie algebras. In fact, a certain commutator of an \(L\)-dendriform algebra forms a pre-Lie algebra. The paper gives basic results and properties of pre-Lie algebras, \(L\)-dendriform algebras, their modules, and of \({\mathcal O}\)-operators of such algebras.
