Let \(V\) be a vector space and \(\mathbb P(V)\) the associated projective space. A section of the sheaf of differentials \(\Omega_{\mathbb P(V)}(2)\) can be identified with an element of \(\bigwedge^2V^*\), hence with a line complex. Thus, the degeneracy locus of a map \(O_{\mathbb P(V)}^m\to \Omega_{\mathbb P(V)}(2)\) corresponds to the space of centres of complexes. For instance, the degeneracy locus of a general map \(O_{\mathbb P(V)}^3\to \Omega_{\mathbb P^4}(2)\) can be identified with a projection of the Veronese surface. This construction yields a map \(\rho(m,n)\) from the Grassmannian of \(m\)-planes in \(H^0(\Omega_{\mathbb P(V)}(2))\) (here \(\dim(V)=n+1\)) to an Hilbert scheme which parametrizes relevant varieties The authors study the behaviour of the map \(\rho(m,n)\), in the case where \(n=2k-1\) is odd. It turns out that these maps are birational, for \(m\geq 4\) and \(k\geq m-1\). For \(m=3\), \(k=3\), it is known that \(\rho(3,5)\) is generically \(4:1\). The authors prove that, on the other hand, \(\rho(3,2k-1)\) is generically injective, for \(k\geq 4\). Finally, the authors prove that \(\rho(3,2k-1)\) dominates the set of surfaces, arising from the projectification of bundles of rank \(2\) over plane curves \(C\), with determinant \(O_C(k-1)\).
