The authors consider flat fronts as surfaces in hyperbolic 3-space. They characterize them as \(\Omega\)-surfaces in the sense of \textit{A. Demoulin} [C. R. 153, 590--593 (1911; JFM 42.0695.01)] with a pair of isothermic sphere congruences, each touching a fixed sphere, where the fixed spheres do not span a contact element. Furthermore the Lie geometric deformations of such flat fronts are discussed.
