The relative distance of points \(a\) and \(b\) in a convex body \(C\) is the ratio of the length of the line-segment \(ab\) to the half of the length of a longest chord of \(C\) parallel to \(ab\). Langi conjectured that there exists no plane convex body whose boundary contains nine points at pairwise relative distance greater than \(4\sin\frac{\pi}{18}\) [cf. \textit{Z. Lángi}, Stud. Sci. Math. Hung. 40, No.~1--2, 115--120 (2003; Zbl 1027.52001), see also \textit{M. Lassak}, Colloq. Math. Soc. János Bolyai. 63, 245--247 (1994; Zbl 0822.52001)]. The authors disprove this conjecture.
