The authors consider a pseudodifferential operator \(\text{Op}(a)\) corresponding to the Weyl symbol \(a\) from a Hörmander class \(S(m,g)\) parametrized by the weight function \(m\) and the Riemannian metric \(g\). Under some assumptions on \(m\) and \(g\), it is shown that \(\text{Op}(a)\) belongs to the Schatten-von Neumann class \(\mathcal S_p\), \(1\leq p\leq \infty\), if and only if \(a\in L^p\). The conditions are written in detail for various specific subclasses of symbols. Other pseudodifferential calculi are considered, too. For earlier results of this kind, see \textit{J.\,Toft} [Ann.\ Global Anal.\ Geom.\ 30, No.\,2, 169--209 (2006; Zbl 1106.35155)], \textit{E.\,Buzano} and \textit{J.\,Toft} [Fields Institute Communications 52, 239--253 (2007; Zbl 1168.35454)].
