Mixed needlets (Q615929): Difference between revisions

This paper introduces mixed needlets which provide an alternative construction for needlet-type wavelets on the spin fiber bundle, in which needlet coefficients arise from the usual, rather than the spin, spherical harmonics, as in the previous constructions of needlets. This paper also investigates the properties of mixed needlets including localization, the exact tight frame characterization, reconstruction formula, decomposition of function spaces, and asymptotic uncorrelation in the stochastic case. Some astrophysical applications are also outlined.
