Consider a connection \(\theta\) on a principal bundle with structural group \(G\) and its curvature form \(\Theta\). A vector \(u \in g^*\) is called fat if the projection of \(\Theta\) on \(u\) is nondegenerate for all horizontal vectors. A special Hamiltonian bundle is called symplectically fat if its coupling form is nondegenerate. In particular, in the framework of the standard model, fatness may be interpreted as an opposite phenomenon to the symmetry breaking. In this paper, the authors study new classes of symplectically fat fibre bundles together with the existence and the properties of fat vectors. Their results lead to simpler proofs for some constructions of symplectic structures.
