The authors investigate when a general crossed product defined by \textit{T. Brzeziński} [Commun. Algebra 25, No. 11, 3551-3575 (1997; Zbl 0887.16026)] is a bialgebra or a Hopf algebra. In the case it is a Hopf algebra, necessary and sufficient conditions for the Hopf algebra to be braided are given.
