Let \(\mathfrak{G}\) be a compact zero-dimensional abelian group. For its Cartesian power \(G=\mathfrak{G}^n\), \(n\) is a natural number, the author presents a general scheme for the construction of wavelet bases of Haar-type functions. The construction uses the facts that a product of zero-dimensional groups is zero-dimensional and the topology on \(G\) can be generated by a chain of subgroups. For the two-dimensional case \(n=2\) the paper describes all such Haar bases.
