    The authors consider the one-dimensional equations of compressible non-Newtonian fluid with frictional damping: \[ \begin{cases} \frac{\partial \rho}{\partial t}+\frac{\partial}{\partial x}(\rho u)=0,\quad x\in(-1,1),\;t\in(0,T),\\ \frac{\partial }{\partial t}(\rho u)+\frac{\partial}{\partial x}(\rho u^2)-\frac{\partial}{\partial x}\left(\left[\left(\frac{\partial u}{\partial x}\right)^2+\mu_0\right]^{\frac{p-2}{2}}\frac{\partial u}{\partial x}\right)+\rho u+\frac{\partial q}{\partial x}=0,\;x\in(-1,1),\;t\in(0,T),\\ q(\rho)=A\rho^\gamma,\quad A>0,\;\gamma>1,\\ (\rho,u)|_{t=0}=(\rho_0,u_0),\quad x\in[-1,1],\\ u|_{x=-1}=u|_{x=1}=0,\quad t\in[0,T]. \end{cases} \] Here \(\rho\) is the density, \(u\) is the velocity, \(q\) is the pressure, \(p>2\) and \(\mu_0>0\) are given constants. \(\rho_0\geq 0\) and \(u_0\) are given regular functions. It is proved that the problem has unique strong solution for sufficiently small \(T\). The successive approximation method is used in the proof.
