The present work improves several known results in various ways. The main result is that the asymptotic dimension of a CAT(0) cube complex does not exceed its dimension. This generalizes the well-known result that the asymptotic dimension of a tree (a \(1\)-dimensional CAT(0) cube complex) is at most \(1\). This result also extends the work of \textit{J. Brodzki} et al. [J. Funct. Anal. 256, No. 5, 1408-1431 (2009; Zbl 1233.20036)], where it is shown that finite dimensional CAT(0) cube complexes have Property A and a result of \textit{A. Dranishnikov} [Algebr. Geom. Topol. 8, No. 3, 1281-1293 (2008; Zbl 1176.20047)], where it is shown that the asymptotic dimension of a right-angled Coxeter group doesn't exceed the dimension of its Davis complex. To prove the main theorem, the author uses the characterization of asymptotic dimension in terms of \(\varepsilon\)-Lipschitz, uniformly cobornologous maps to a CAT(0) cube complex. For a \(D\)-dimensional CAT(0) cube complex, the author constructs a \(3^{D-1}D/(3^{D-1}D+1)\)-Lipschitz cobornologous map to another CAT(0) cube complex with dimension \(D\). By iterating this process, one obtains a composition, which is cobornologous and has Lipschitz constant as small as required. | |||
