For any nonzero complex number \(q\), the infinite-dimensional Lie algebras \(\mathcal {B}(q)\) is defined by a basis \({\{c\}\cup\{L_{\alpha,i}\mid\alpha,i\in{\mathbb Z},i\geq 0\}}\) satisfying the commutation relations \[ [L_{\alpha,i},L_{\beta,j}]=(\beta(i+q)-\alpha(j+q))L_{\alpha+\beta,\,i+j}+\delta_{\alpha+\beta,\,0} \delta_{i+j,\,0}\frac{\alpha^3-\alpha}{12}c, \] \[ [c,L_{\alpha,i}]=0, \] These Lie algebras \(\mathcal {B}(q)\) are subalgebras of Lie algebras studied in [\textit{Đ. Đoković} and \textit{K. Zhao}, ``Derivations, isomorphisms and second cohomology of generalized Block algebras'', Algebra Colloq. 3, No. 3, 245--272 (1996; Zbl 0862.17013)]. The Lie algebra \(\mathcal {B}(q)\) has an ideal whose quotient is the Virasoro algebra. The authors prove that an irreducible Harish-Chandra \(\mathcal {B}(q)\)-module (\(\mathbb{Z}\)-graded) is either a highest (or a lowest) weight module, or a uniformly bounded module. The uniformly bounded \(\mathcal {B}(q)\)-modules are not determined. However the authors determined all \(\mathcal {B}(q)\)-modules with all weight spaces \(1\)-dimensional. Remark: The uniformly bounded \(\mathcal {B}(q)\)-modules are completely determined in a recent preprint: [\textit{H. Chen, X. Guo} and \textit{K. Zhao}, ``Irreducible Harish-Chandra modules over a class of Lie algebras of Block type'', Preprint (2012)].
