This interesting paper considers closed geodesics of Finlser metrics on spheres. Let \( F\) be a Finsler metric on a sphere \(S^n\) and \(c\) a closed geodesic. Let \(P_c\) be the linearized Poincaré map of \(c\). Then \(P_c\in \mathrm{Sp}(2n-2)\) is symplectic. For \(M\in \mathrm{Sp}(2k)\), denote by \(e(M)\) the elliptic height of \(M\). The closed geodesic \(c\) is called elliptic if \(e(P_c)=2(n-1)\), hyperbolic if \(e(P-c)=0\), and non-degenerate if \(1\) is not an eigenvalue of \(P_c\). The Finsler metric \(F\) is called bumpy if all its closed geodesic are non-degenerate. The well-known conjecture of Anosov states that the lower bound of the number of closed geodesics on a Finsler sphere \((S^n, F)\) should be \(2[\frac{n+1}{2}]\). Up to now this conjecture is still open. The present paper under review shows that the conjecture is true under some condition. Namely, the author proves the following: Theorem. For every bumpy Finsler sphere \((S^n, F)\) with reversibility \(\lambda\) and flag curvature \(K\) satisfying \((\frac{3\lambda}{2(\lambda +1)})^2<K\leq 1\), there exist \(2[\frac{n+1}{2}]\) closed geodesics. Some stability results are also provided.
