Using Bernstein-Bézier approaches, the stability and the approximation properties of bivariate polynomial splines on \(T\)-meshes are studied. The article begins with an introduction into \(T\)-meshes and the definition of polynomial splines on these. With a Bernstein-Bézier representation, stability estimates for Chebyshev and \(q\)-norms are proved for the splines. Moreover, the support sizes of the bases are bounded and approximation orders in \(q\)-norms are derived.
