One version of Arnold's conjecture, sometimes called the ``nearby Lagrangian problem'', says that every closed exact Lagrangian \(L\) in the cotangent bundle \(T^*N\) of a closed manifold \(N\) is Hamiltonian isotopic to the zero section. Partial results of this conjecture are given by \textit{K. Fukaya}, \textit{P. Seidel} and \textit{I. Smith} [Invent. Math. 172, No. 1, 1--27 (2008; Zbl 1140.53036)] and \textit{D. Nadler} [Sel. Math., New Ser. 15, No. 4, 563--619 (2009; Zbl 1197.53116)] and other authors under additional restrictions. For example, if \(N\) is simply-connected and spin, and \(L\) is spin with vanishing Maslov class, then Fukaya et al. [loc. cit.] (and Nadler et al. [loc. cit.] independently) proved that \(N\) and \(L\) have isomorphic homological groups. In this paper, the restrictions on \(N\) and the spin condition on \(L\) are removed, and the above result is strengthened to be a homotopy equivalence, that is, if the closed exact Lagrangian \(L\) has vanishing Maslov class, then the author proves that the inclusion of \(L\) into the total space \(T^\ast N\) is a homotopy equivalence.
