Let \(M\) be a Liouville domain and let \(L\subset M\) be an exact Lagrangian submanifold. This is a foundational paper on the \(A_{\infty}\)-structure defined on the chain complex underlying the wrapped Floer cohomology \(HW^{\ast}(L)\). The wrapped Floer cohomology (defined under some suitable hypothesis on \(L\)) was introduced by \textit{K. Fukaya, P. Seidel} and \textit{I. Smith} [Invent. Math. 172, 1--27 (2008; Zbl 1163.53344)]. It is the natural analogue of \textit{C. Viterbo}'s symplectic cohomology of Liouville domains [Geom. Funct. Anal. 9, 985--1033 (1999; Zbl 0954.57015)]. One of the important features of the latter is a functoriality property (also called ``transfer'') which asserts that the a Liouville subdomain \(N\subset M\) yields a ``restriction'' map at the level of symplectic cohomology. M. Abouzaid and P. Seidel point out that this functoriality property is also valid for the wrapped Floer cohomology (for the inclusion \(L\cap N\subset L\), under some suitable hypothesis). The aim of their paper is to construct an \(A_{\infty}\)-algebra structure on the correspondant wrapped Floer complex and then to extend the above functoriality property at the level of \(A_{\infty}\)-structures. The higher order components of the \(A_{\infty}\)-structure are defined by counting elements of moduli spaces formed of punctured holomorphic disks equipped with some additional geometric data; the authors call these elements ``popsicles''. The \(A_{\infty}\)- restriction homomorphism is constructed by adapting to the setting of popsicles an idea from the work of [\textit{K. Fukaya, Y.-G. Oh, H. Ohta} and \textit{K. Ono}, Lagrangian intersection Floer theory: anomaly and obstruction. I, II. Providence, RI: American Mathematical Society (AMS); Somerville, MA: International Press. (2009; Zbl 1181.53003; Zbl 1181.53002)]. This construction is expected to apply to the Arnold chord conjecture and to homological mirror symmetry.
