The author establishes a refined Young inequality by showing that the \(\nu\)-weighted arithmetic mean \((1-\nu)a+\nu b\) is greater than the product of the \(\nu\)-weighted geometric mean \(a^{1-\nu}b^\nu\) and Specht's ratio \(S\left(\left(\frac{b}{a}\right)^r\right)\), where \(r=\min\{\nu, 1-\nu\}\) and \[ S(h)=\frac{h^{\frac{1}{h-1}}}{e\log h^{\frac{1}{h-1}}}\quad (h \neq 1). \] He then presents an operator version of the above result by using functional calculus; see also \textit{C. Conde} [Ann. Funct. Anal. 4, No. 2, 144--152 (2013; Zbl 1279.47031)].
