The author demonstrates that the dilation theorems of \textit{B. Sz.-Nagy} [``Prolongement des transformations de l'espace de Hilbert qui sortent de cet espace'', Appendice au livre: \textit{F. Riesz} et \textit{B. Sz.-Nagy}, Leçons d'analyse fonctionnelle. Budapest: Akademiai Kiado (1955; Zbl 0064.35404), 439--573] and \textit{W. F. Stinespring} [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 6, 211--216 (1955; Zbl 0064.36703)], even at the general level of VH-spaces (which include, for instance, Hilbert modules over \(C^*\) or locally \(C^*\)-algebras), can be unified under the study of positive semidefinite kernels that are invariant under the action of a \(*\)-semigroup. To be more specific, the author proves (Theorem 4.2) that these kernels are characterized by a certain linearization of the kernel, called a Kolmogorov decomposition, together with a \(*\)-representation of the \(*\)-semigroup onto a larger VH-space.
