Weak covering properties and selection principles (Q386836): Difference between revisions

The authors study weak versions of several classical covering properties (Menger, Hurewicz, Rothberger, \(\gamma\)-set). They are mainly focused on the investigation of productivity of weak covering properties. If \(\mathcal P\) is a topological property, then a space \(X\) is productively \(\mathcal P\) if the product \(X\times Y\) has \(\mathcal P\) for any space \(Y\) having \(\mathcal P\). Connections with Alster spaces (each cover of the space by compact \(G_{\delta}\)-sets has a countable subcover) are considered and characterizations of Alster spaces in terms of selection principles are given. The paper contains a number of open problems.
