For a completely regular space \(X\), let \(C_b(X)\) be the Banach algebra of all real-valued or complex-valued bounded and continuous functions on \(X\). In the paper under review, it is proved as a main result (Theorem 2.3) that certain Banach subalgebras of \(C_b(X)\) are isometrically isomorphic to the Banach algebra \(C_0(Y)\) of functions vanishing at infinity, for some unique (up to homeomorphism) locally compact space \(Y\). Moreover, the space \(Y\) can be explicitly constructed as a subspace of the Stone-Čech compactification of \(X\). This main theorem provides a general result about representation of this class of Banach algebras, from which it is possible to derive some previous results obtained by the same author in the last few years.
