The author studies the so-called Łojasiewicz-Siciak property of the Siciak extremal function associated to a compact subset \(K\) of \(\mathbb C^{n}\), \[ \Phi_{K}:=\sup\Big\{|p(z)|^{1/\mathrm{deg\,} p}: p\in\mathbb C[z]\,,\; \deg p>0 ,\text{ and }\| p\|_{K}\leq 1\Big\}. \] One says that the compact set \(K\) satisfies the Łojasiewicz-Siciak condition if it is polynomially convex and there exist constants \(\eta>0\), \(\kappa>0\) such that \[ \Phi_{K}\geq 1+\eta\big(\mathrm{dist}(z; K)\big)^{\kappa}, \] for all \(z\) such that \(\mathrm{dist}(z;K)\leq 1\). In a sense these are the sets for which the Siciak extremal function is required to satisfy an inequality which is the reverse of an inequality yielding the so-called Hölder continuity property (HCP). The article answers the request to find new classes of compact sets satisfying the Łojasiewicz-Siciak condition, since only a few classes have been discovered so far. The author shows that every nonempty compact subset of \(\mathbb R^{n}\), treated as a subset of \(\mathbb C^{n}\), satisfies the Łojasiewicz-Siciak condition with \(\kappa=1\). Another finding is that a nonempty compact, connected, semialgebraic subset of \(\mathbb R^{2}\) with connected complement, and such that its complement has only greater than zero interior angles, treated as a subset of \(\mathbb C\), again satisfies the Łojasiewicz-Siciak condition. The exponent \(\kappa\) is estimated by the measure of the angles. The statement remains true if semialgebraicity in the second result is replaced by the assumption that the set is definable in some polynomially bounded o-minimal structure. Some illustrative examples are also included.
