    Extending some of their previous results for Banach spaces to the case of metric spaces, the authors study conditions under which the following assertion holds true. Let \(X,Y,Z,W\) be metric spaces; \(F_1: X \rightrightarrows Y,\) \(F_2: X \rightrightarrows Z\) and \(G: Y \times Z \rightrightarrows W\) multimaps, and \((\overline{x}, \overline{y}, \overline{z},\overline{w}) \in X \times Y \times Z \times W\) such that \(\overline{y} \in F_1(\overline{x}),\) \(\overline{z} \in F_2(\overline{x}),\) \(\overline{w} \in G(\overline{y}, \overline{z}).\) Let the multimap \(H: X \rightrightarrows W\) be defined as \(H(x) = G(F_1(x), F_2(x)).\) Then there exist \(N>0\) and \(\varepsilon > 0\) such that for every \(\rho \in (0,\varepsilon)\) \[ B(\overline{w}, N\rho) \subset H(B(\overline{x},\rho)). \] Some results are obtained as corollaries, including the Lyusternik-Graves theorem. Applications deal with the local stability of compositions of multimaps and properties of the multimap \(S: P \rightrightarrows X\) of the form \[ S(p) = \{x \in X: 0 \in H(x,p)\}, \] including metric regularity and the Aubin property.
