The main aim of the paper under review is to extend the notion of Radford-Majid bosonization to the setting of dual quasi-bialgebras. The notions of dual quasi-bialgebra and of dual quasi-Hopf algebra have been introduced by \textit{S. Majid} [Contemp. Math. 134, 219-232 (1992; Zbl 0788.17012)]. To every dual quasi-bialgebra \(H\) and every bialgebra \(R\) in the category \(^H_H\mathcal{YD}\) of Yetter-Drinfeld modules over \(H\), the authors associate a dual quasi-bialgebra structure on the tensor product \(R\otimes H\) that they call bosonization of \(R\) by \(H\) and denote by \(R\#H\) (Theorem 5.2). Using the fundamental theorem for dual quasi-bialgebras (see \textit{A. Ardizzoni} and \textit{A. Pavarin} [Isr. J. Math. 192, Part A, 281-295 (2012; Zbl 1280.16032); Theorem 3.9]) they characterize as bosonizations the dual quasi-bialgebras with projection onto a dual quasi-bialgebra with preantipode (Theorem 5.8). In the last section, the authors apply their own results to dual quasi-bialgebras with the dual Chevalley property. For every such dual quasi-bialgebra \(A\), under the further hypothesis that the coradical \(H\) of \(A\) has a preantipode, the authors prove that there exists a bialgebra \(R\) in \(^H_H\mathcal{YD}\) such that the associated graded coalgebra \(\text{gr\,}A\) is isomorphic to \(R\#H\) as a dual quasi-bialgebra (Corollary 6.4). In particular, if \(A\) is a pointed dual quasi-Hopf algebra, then \(\text{gr\,}A\) is of the form \(R\#\Bbbk\mathbb G(A)\) as a dual quasi-bialgebra, when \(\Bbbk\) is a basic field and \(\mathbb G(A)\) is the set of grouplike elements in \(A\) (Theorem 6.10).
