Summary: We establish a formula for the distance to \(L^\infty\) from the grand Orlicz space \(L^{\Phi)}\) introduced in [\textit{C. Capone} et al., Math. Scand. 102, No. 1, 131--148 (2008; Zbl 1162.46019)]. A new formula for the distance to \(L^\infty\) from the grand Lebesgue space \(L^{n)}(\Omega)\) introduced in [\textit{T. Iwaniec} and \textit{C. Sbordone}, Arch. Ration. Mech. Anal. 119, No. 2, 129--143 (1992; Zbl 0766.46016)] is also provided.
