An inner function \(f\) is a holomorphic self map of the unit disk \(D\) such that, for almost every \(\zeta\in\partial D\), \(\lim_{r\to 1}|f(r\zeta)|=1\). An important class of inner functions is the class of Blaschke products. It is a classical problem to characterize the inner functions with derivative in some function space (Hardy, Bergman, Besov, etc.). The authors study the problem for the weak Besov space \[ \mathcal B_w^p=\big\{f \text{ holomorphic in }D: f^\prime\in L_w^p(D,\mu_p)\big\},\quad 1<p<+\infty, \] where \(L_w^p(D,\mu_p)\) is the weak \(L^p\) space with respect to the measure \(d\mu_p(z)=(1-|z|)^{p-2}dA(z)\), and \(dA\) is the area measure on \(D\). The main result is that an inner function \(B\) belongs to \(\mathcal B_w^p\) if and only if \(B\) is an exponential Blaschke product; namely, there exists a non-negative integer \(M(B)\) such that each annulus \[ A_j=\big\{z\in D: 2^{-j}<1-|z|<2^{-j+1}\big\},\quad j=1,2,3,\dots, \] contains at most \(M(B)\) zeros of \(B\).
