A Maxwell-type elliptic system with rapidly oscillating periodic coefficients is reduced to a scalar uniform elliptic equation of divergence form, also with rapidly oscillating coefficients. The Neuman and Dirichlet boundary conditions for the reduced equation are necessary to study the initial system. The uniform \(L^p\) estimates of the solution of the reduced equation are obtained, related with the results of \textit{M. Avellaneda} and \textit{F. H. Lin} [Commun. Pure Appl. Math. 44, No. 8--9, 897--910 (1991; Zbl 0761.42008)] and some previous results of the first author, and used to get the corresponding uniform \(L^p\) estimates for the initial Maxwell-type system.
