Let \(k\) be an algebraically closed field of characteristic zero and let \(H\) be a semisimple Hopf algebra over \(k\). Motivated by the analogy with finite group theory, the authors introduced in their previous work [Commun. Algebra 39, No. 12, 4618-4633 (2011; Zbl 1259.16038)] certain notions of generalized character table, conjugacy classes and class sums of \(H\), and studied several of its basic properties. In the paper under review they obtain further results in this direction. One of these results is that the generalized character table of \(H\) reflects its normal left coideal subalgebras; in view of results of \textit{M. Takeuchi} [Commun. Algebra 22, No. 7, 2503-2523 (1994; Zbl 0801.16041)], this amounts to reflecting Hopf algebra quotients. An analogue of the Burnside-Brauer theorem is shown in the case where the character algebra of \(H\) is commutative. When \(H\) is quasitriangular, it is shown that if \(H\) has no proper nontrivial normal left coideal subalgebras (or, equivalently no Hopf algebra quotients), then there is only one -- trivial -- conjugacy class with prime power dimension; this result is analogous to a result of Burnside for finite groups. Finally, it is shown that if \(H\) is factorizable and the dimension of \(H\) is of the form \(p^aq^b\), where \(p\) and \(q\) are prime numbers and \(a,b\) are integers such that \(a+b>0\), then every normal left coideal subalgebra of \(H\) contains a nontrivial central group-like element.
