According to the Bass-Serre theory, a group acting on a tree is the fundamental group of a graph of groups, whose vertex and edge groups are stabilizers of suitable vertices and edges of the tree. This allows for a description of the group in terms of iterated amalgamated free products and HNN extensions. There is no general analog in the pro-\(p\) case. The authors prove first that a pro-\(p\) version holds for finitely generated pro-\(p\) groups acting on a pro-\(p\) tree with procyclic edge stabilizers, provided that the group is generated by its vertex stabilizers, or there is an integer \(n\) such that no non-identity element fixes more than \(n\) consecutive edges. The authors then apply these result to the class \(\mathcal L\) of pro-\(p\) groups that has been introduced by \textit{D. H. Kochloukova} and \textit{P. A. Zalesskii} [Math. Z. 267, No. 1--2, 109--128 (2011; Zbl 1216.20024)] as a pro-\(p\) analog of the class of limit groups. This allows them to prove, among other things, that a group \(G\) in \(\mathcal L\) has Euler-Poincaré characteristic zero if and only if it is Abelian, and that if \(G\) is not procyclic, but each of its Abelian pro-\(p\) subgroups is, then the deficiency of \(G\) is at least \(2\).
