In this paper compact Kähler manifolds of complex dimension \(n>2\) are considered. Let \(b:K\rightarrow B\) and \(\overline{b}: \overline {K} \rightarrow \overline {B}\) be respectively the natural map from the Kähler cone to the balanced cone and the extension map from the closures of the previous cones. The first result is the injectivity of \(b\). The proof is based on Yau's Theorem on complex Monge-Ampère equations and the AM-GM inequality. Conditions for the injectivity of \(\overline{b}\) also are given. Then the surjectivity of \(b\) is studied, the map in general is not surjective and some examples where the balanced cone is bigger that the image of the Kähler cone are given. Finally an analytic method to distinguish the Kähler classes and the nef but not Kähler classes mapped in the balanced cone is given.
