The authors prove some asymptotic analysis results for the 1D Euler-Poisson equations which describe the evolutions with respect to the time and space variables of the proper density \(\rho \) of charge of an isotropic relativistic electro-fluid, of its velocity \(\upsilon \) and of the electrostatic potential \(\phi \). They quote from their previous paper [Acta Appl. Math. 125, No. 1, 135--157 (2013; Zbl 1267.35230)] the model they here consider. They assume a \(\gamma \)-law for the pressure according to \( p(n)=\sigma ^{2}n^{\gamma }\), where \(\sigma \) is a positive constant less than the speed of light and with \(\gamma \geq 1\). Initial data are imposed to \(\rho \) and \(\upsilon \), and Dirichlet boundary conditions are imposed to \(\rho \) and \(\phi \) at both ends of the space interval. The authors first introduce the relativistic current density \(j_{c}=\frac{\rho \upsilon }{\sqrt{1-\upsilon ^{2}/c^{2}}}\) and they rewrite the problem consequently. They also introduce the steady corresponding problem which has been studied in the previously indicated reference. In the main part of their paper, the authors assume the relation \( c=\frac{1}{\sqrt{\tau }}\) between the speed of light and the relaxation time and they introduce change of variables in terms of \(\tau \). Under some hypotheses on the initial data, they prove the existence of a unique solution to this problem. They also prove that when \(\tau \rightarrow 0\) this solution converges to the solution of some drift-diffusion problem and they give uniform estimates on this solution. The end of the paper is devoted to the study of the asymptotic behavior of the solution when \( c\rightarrow \infty \). The authors here prove that the solution converges to the subsonic solution of some unipolar hydrodynamic problem.
