Asymptotics of semigroups generated by operator matrices (Q2254929): Difference between revisions

The concept of matrix operator is reviewed with examples to illustrate the concept. The author explains the difference between diagonal and nondiagonal matrix operators and provides some examples of applications. Known results on operator matrices are chronologically reviewed for both diagonal and nondiagonal matrix operators. As application, operator matrices with nondiagonal domains are considered in order to discuss the Laplacian on a domain equipped with general Wentzell boundary conditions. Applications are also presented on coupled systems of partial differential equations. Operator theory is also used to solve some diffusion equations, where previous methods fail. The author mentions some open problems along these lines.
