The authors prove an integral-type common fixed point theorem for two pairs of self-mappings employing variants of sub-sequential continuity with \(R\)-weak commutativity in metric spaces and give an example which demonstrates the validity of the hypotheses of the result, which generalizes some well-known metrical fixed point theorems.
