    Let \((M,J)\) be an almost complex manifold with \(\text{dim\,} M=2\). The main result states that for any \(P\in M\) there exists a domain \(D\subset M\) such that for any plurisubharmonic function \(u\in \mathcal {PSH}(D)\) there exists a decreasing sequence \(u_k\in \mathcal C^{\infty}(D)\cap \mathcal {PSH}(D)\) such that \(u_k\to u\), \(k\to \infty\). As a consequence it is proved that the Monge-Ampère operator \((i\partial \overline{\partial}u)^2\) is well defined for \(u\in \mathcal {PSH}(M)\cap L^{\infty}(M)\).
