Recall that an integral domain \(D\) is called an almost Dedekind domain if \(D_M\) is a Noetherian valuation domain for all maximal ideal \(M\) of \(D\). Let \(D\) be an almost Dedekind domain that is not Dedekind and \(M\) a non-invertible maximal ideal of \(D\). The authors show that \(dimD[[X]]\geq 2^{\aleph_1}\) and \(ht(M[[X]]/MD[[X]])\geq 2^{\aleph_1}\) when \(D\) has only countably many non-invertible maximal ideals or when \(M\) is countably generated. The first result is well known, the authors simplify the proof.
